The Mill Apartments, Ballisodare

I have been documenting the decline of The Mill, Ballisodare, Sligo for the past 3 years. In 2006 a large apartment complex was built, one person moved in; they didn't stay for long.  The apartments were not well built and there were problems with dampness.
Vandalised bathroom

In the past 6-8 months the extensive apartment complex has been completely vandalised.  In many apartments state of the art fixtures and fittings have been ripped out and taken.

As The Mill continues to lie open, vandalised and decaying, nobody is currently taking responsibility for it's fate.

  1. I have been documenting the decline of The Mill in Ballisodare, Sligo for the past 3 years. A large apartment complex was built that nobody ever moved into. The apartments were not well built and there were problems with dampness. A beautiful old mill was demolished to make way for the apartment complex. Recently The Mill has been vandalised. I walked in off the street and took these photos.

  2. This is amazing Sarah, a wonderful piece of work, highlighting a serious problem in our world where this is allowed to happen & so many people are still homeless!

  3. Built by cheap labour from Eastern Europe, wrecked by the same idle workforce over the last few years. The Grafitti is not Local, most of it!.Witnessed some local!Non Nationals wrecking this place...Called the Gardai,They didnt want to know....Our local tribe stole the copper after the builders vandalised the place.....
The mill should have been a protected structure. This buliding should never have got planning permission.
